Clarence Gilchrist, known to his family as Cooter and his friends as Gil, went to be with his Lord Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the age of 71. He had fought failing health for 19 years, but the Lord finally decided to call him home.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara, his son, Chris (Amy), his stepson, Kevin (Bridget), his stepdaughter, Jennifer (Patrick), his grandchildren, Landon, Lilyann, Gatlin, Rebecka, Dylon, Tyffanie, and Ashleigh, and his great-grandchildren, Brylyn, Emersyn, Easton, and Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Darren, and is survived by his sister, Donna (Gary), his mother, Osway, his aunts, Polly, Jo, and Audrey, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with a large group of friends he met through church, work, and Veterans groups.

Gil never met a stranger. Anyone that visited the home of Barbara and Gil were offered a meal. He shared the Word of God with anyone. Whether they were at Walmart, the hospital, or a caregiver, they heard about the Lord. Gil was a Vietnam Army Veteran and retired from construction/painting and security.
