Claude T "Buddy" Terrell, Jr
Born 2/14/24 Valentine's Day baby to Claude and Gertrude Terrell in Corinth, Ms. Raised in Memphis, Tn during the depression, he saw an opportunity to defend his country 10 days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor during WWII. At the age of 17, Buddy joined the Navy, in the Pacific Theatre and served a four year tour in the capacity as Gunners Mate, 3rd Class.
After an honorable discharge from the Navy, his job experiences were working for the railroad, vacuum sales and repairs, before he landed his career job as a City of Memphis Firefighter in 1957. He enjoyed farming and a gravel trucking business on his off days. Buddy retired 1980 from the City of Memphis Fire Department with Captain ranking. He then started a successful new construction clean up, grading and landscape business.
At a young age, he loved horses. Buddy participated in bull riding and calf roping at local rodeos. He instilled in his children the love for horses hauling them all over the Mid-South to participate in horse shows and rodeos. He has been a tough ole cowboy all his life.
Proceeded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Laura Christine Terrell. Also, proceeding him were his four sisters, Evelyn, Katherine, Dorothy, Ricky and two brothers, Paul and Bill.
Affectionally known as Honey by his children, he leaves Dusty Hill, Bubba (Heidi) Terrell, Leigh Anne (Terry) Boyd, and Kim Terrell. Grandchildren: Teddy & Paul Downen, Rachel Johnson, Terry Boyd Jr, Sissy Johnson and Colton Terrell. Three great grandchildren: Mileigh & Pearson Johnson, Mary-Magers Anderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday 4/17/23 at First Baptist Church 9155 Highland St Olive Branch, Ms 38654 with visitation beginning at 10 AM-Noon. Service to follow at Noon.
Private family graveside at Memorial Park Cemetery later.
