Claudia Elaine Hale, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. She was born on January 8, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Claude Murphy and Gladys Morris.
Claudia was the devoted matriarch of her family, beloved by all who knew her. She had a deep love for her family and friends and was instrumental in helping raise her siblings, embodying a spirit of care, support and a little sass that continued throughout her life. Her influence extended beyond her family, as she dedicated many years to serving as a Navy spouse and ombudsman for Navy families. In this role, she provided unwavering support and was recognized for her selflessness and dedication to the military community.
A woman of simple wisdom, Claudia lived her life with kindness, thoughtfulness, and an open heart. Her love for nature brought her peace, and she often enjoyed spending time outdoors. She was a renowned cook and cake baker, and she loved teaching others the art of cooking. A lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, Claudia shared a special connection with the King of Rock and Roll, as she was born on his birthday.
Claudia's memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Greg (Amy) Hale; stepdaughters, Tracy (Daryl) Pennington and Penny (Mike) Ramsey; sisters, Gail (Kenny) Tamboli and Pat Bricker; brother, Dale Murphy; half-sister, Catherine Boughey; grandchild, Logan (Olivia) Hale; and step-grandchildren, Crystal Pennington, Deyon Lane, Paul Pennington, James Pennington, David Pennington, David Ramsey, and Jason Ramsey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Hale; son, Richard A. Hale; father, Claude Murphy; mother, Gladys Ferguson; and stepfather, George Ferguson.
Claudia will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
