Cleo "Chief" McCarty,81, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Mr. McCarty was a retired and decorated Sgt., First Class for the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean War and two tours in the Vietnam War. He also worked fifteen years as a building engineer for the Shelby County School System. His wife of 26 years and mother of his children, Noma McCarty preceded him in death as well as his second wife, Inez McCarty; also 13 brothers and sisters. Chief leaves three children: Ida McCarty of Germantown, TN, Vernon McCarty (Pam) of Memphis, TN and Pete McCarty (Denise) of Collierville, TN; four loving step-children from his wife Inez; one sister, Louise Cole and brother, Bob McCarty both of CA; also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please take a moment and be kind to someone today. A kindness extended in tribute to our father is worth millions of value to our hearts. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, December 15 at Memphis Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel - Raleigh LaGarnage Rd. with service immediately following. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery. Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park -East has charge of services.
