Obituary

Curley Kimbrell (December 19, 1938 – March 24, 2026)

Curley was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Ida Powell, her brother, Hiram Powell, and her sisters, Ida Pearl Morrow, Martha Hackett, and Evie Lee Waldrip. Curley is survived by her spouse of 63 years and 22 days, Jack Kimbrell, and her children, Jackie James (Hayse) and Terry Kimbrell, and her grandchildren, Alex and Quinn James.

Curley graduated Humes High School, Class of ’57. She was the former Regent of the Commodore Perry chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Curley was the church librarian of Kensington Baptist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coldwater. Curley served as the long-time secretary of Overton Electric Company; she loved her work and her former employer.

Curley was a woman of many passions, be that the color red, the welcoming symbol of the pineapple, or celebrating special occasions with her family. Each of these could always bring a smile or laugh that would light the room, completing a perfect memory.

A lifelong world traveler, Curley loved to see and explore the world. Curley always loved the memories associated with her travels in Hawaii, Australia, England, Hong Kong, China, and throughout the United States. Of her travels, Curley loved nothing more than returning home to her family and friends.

Curley was a daughter, sister, mother, and Honey. She will be deeply missed.
