November 13, 1935 – March 16, 2024
Dalton "Russ" Russom went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was born November 13, 1935 and grew up in the Rose Creek community near Selmer, Tennessee. During his youth, he worked for Kroger, played football, was a member of the Tennessee National Guard and graduated from Selmer High School. He also became an Honorary Mason. In 1955 he moved to Memphis to marry his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Wilma Higginbottom Russom and raise his family.
He retired from MLGW and then later moved to Milan where he retired from Gibson County Electric Co-Op as district manager. Russ was a Christian, a Gideon, and enjoyed working with the youth in several different churches and is a member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church.
Russ had a passion for God, Family and Country. He enjoyed his time with family, hunting, gardening, cutting grass, and most any labor in the outdoors.
Russ is preceded in death by his son Michael Russom, granddaughters Sarah Russom and Angela Ferrante, parents Olen and Lois Russom, and sisters Noma Shelton and Judy Garrison. He is survived by his wife Wilma, daughter Melinda Ferrante, daughter in law Nancy Russom and son Terry Russom (Deana). He also leaves behind grandchildren Caroline Russom, Brandon Ferrante (Rebecca), Joseph Ferrante (Stacy), Andrea Schmiedebusch (Darek), Justin Lyons (Hayley), Jonathan Russom, Sandi Morales (Ernesto), and great grandchildren Payton, Aaron, Cara Beth, Houston, Ruby Laine, Mac, Luna, and Lily.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Hickory Withe Baptist Church in Eads Tn. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Hill Memory Gardens in Bethel Springs, Tn. (about an hour from the church).
Please make any memorials to Gideons International, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, or Hickory Withe Baptist Church (Building Fund).
