Dan Becallo, 78, passed away April 17, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Grace Becallo, and two sisters, Carmella Chester and Anne Dunlavy. He is survived by two daughters, Rita (Darryl) Buckley of Gautier, Mississippi, and Rose Raney, of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers Joseph (Florence) Becallo of Warners, New York, and Frank (Maria) Becallo of Raleigh, North Carolina; sisters, Angela (John) Rizzo of Bernalillo, New Mexico, Ruth Dorian of Manchester, New Jersey, and Nancy Schneider of Manchester, New Jersey; two grandsons, Zachary Nicholson and Sean Caviness; his former wife and close friend, Pam Becallo; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dan was born in Frankfort, New York, on May 14, 1935 and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and worked on the NASA Space Program in Huntsville, Alabama, with Dr. Wernher von Braun. He taught various technical subjects at State Technical Institute at Memphis. A memorial mass will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. in St. Ann''s Chapel at 6529 Stage Road, Bartlett, Tennessee. The committal will be private.
