Born Grover Daniel Stokes Jr on January 4, 1945, in Walls, Mississippi.  Dan was raised in the Walls and Memphis area, where he met his now departed dear wife, Dylene Webster.  He began his lifelong career in the food service industry in Memphis, later moving to Miami, FL, in 1981, and settled in Hattiesburg, MS, where he retired from Sanderson Farms in 2012.  Dan passed away at his home on September 20, 2023.
Dan is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dylene, parents Martha Von Boeckman and Grover D. Stokes Sr., and sister Joyce Smith.  Dan is survived by his two children, Dan Stokes III (Cindy) of Huntsville, AL, Cindy Stokes Wolfe of Las Vegas, NV; brothers Tom Stokes and Jerry Stokes (Linda); eight grandchildren Taylor Stokes (Lauren), Connor Stokes (Valerie), Chandler Stokes, Eleanor Stokes, Esther Stokes, Ethan Wolfe, Avery Wolfe and Barrett Wolfe; and three great-grandchildren Sawyer, Madeline and Everly Stokes. Dan will forever be in our hearts and we will miss him dearly.
