Daniel S. Rook, Jr., from Bartlett, Tennessee until his retirement to Brighton, Tennessee, was born in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday, June 8, 1942. He passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, DS & Gertrude Rook, and his brother, Paul Rook. He leaves his loving wife of 53 year,s Readith Spellings Rook; his daughters, Sandi (Tom) Myrick and Kelly Rook; grandchildren, Josh (Brittany) Benedict and Shelby Bigham; great-granddaughters, Zoey and Ava Bigham. He leaves behind his brother, Ron (Barbara) Rook; sister-in-law, Dixie Rook, and sister, Linda Burk. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Bartlett High School, Class of 1960, and was a volunteer firefighter for Bartlett most of his life. He enlisted in the Air Force right out of high school. He was a member of the old Bartlett Optimist Club, and you could find his daughters and him selling Christmas trees in the area of Bartlett Boulevard and Stage Road. Later in life, he enlisted into the Navy Reserves. He ran Auto Air Service out of his home in Bartlett for many years, keeping people cool in their cars. He retired from MLGW Electric Meter shop after over 30 years. He was a great provider for his family by working two to three jobs at the same time. He enjoyed staying busy, and helping others. He loved his wife always. He taught his family exactly what it meant to be a good husband and exemplary father. He was the family foundation. He built his house on love, truth, and strength, that will survive through the generations. His face will be missed, but his spirit lives in all who knew him. There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and his funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., all at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park – East, 2440 Whitten Road.
