Daniel G. Ward died Friday, January 24, 2014 at Ave Maria Nursing Home in Bartlett after a long illness. Mr. Ward, who was 69 years old, was a loving husband to Geraldine Ward for 34 years. Born on February 4, 1944, Mr. Ward grew up in Tulsa, OK, the son of the late Milford Guy Ward and the late Marjorie Anne Jerrett. At the age of 17, he joined the military and served in the United States Navy for 22 years, retiring as Senior Chief. He then started his second career in City Government serving as the City Manager in Guthrie, OK; Sikeston, MO; and Cape Girardeau, MO. He retired in 2003 and moved to Memphis to be closer to family and friends. Mr. Ward was a member of Decatur Trinity First Christian Church where he served as an elder and deacon. He loved woodworking and riding motorcycles. He spent many years riding and fundraising with the Southern Cruisers Riding Club, serving as First Officer for several years. Besides his wife, Mr. Ward is survived by five children, Reverend Gary (Vickie) Lawson, Sr. of Eva TN; Cindi (Joe) Weinstein of Memphis; Shelly (Robert) Hoppis of Tulsa, OK; Stacey (Howard) Seay of Dayton, TX; Christy (Alan) Moffett of Dayton, TX; one sister, Teresa (Scott) Walters of Flowermound, TX; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family request that any memorials be sent to a charity of the donor''s choice. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Monday with services at 2 pm, Tuesday both at Forest Hill East Funeral Home.
