IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Adam
Thompson
November 13, 1963 – August 6, 2024
David Adam Thompson, 60, of Southaven, MS sadly left us on August 6, 2024. David was known for his great laugh, social nature, and his love for people. David loved to camp and travel. He was always ready for good conversation or a meal with friends and family.
David was born in Memphis, TN and adopted at 3 months of age by Byron and Norma Thompson. He grew up in Southaven, MS and graduated from Southaven High School in the Class of 1982. He had a long career as a retail jeweler and gemologist. He loved anything to do with jewelry, sales, and people. David was known for being a meticulous dresser, his love of cologne, and being notoriously late.
David met the love of his life, Jan Stephenson, and they married on June 10, 1989. Together they had 2 beautiful girls. As a family, they enjoyed vacationing, watching movies and tv (especially reality shows and Dateline), and sharing moments of boundless laughter. Most of all, David loved his "girls" and, especially, being "Papa" to his granddaughter, Ivy Skye.
David and Jan are members of Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando, MS. David loved to sing at church with his sister as a teenager and tell others about his miraculous survival after suffering from a stroke in 2021, giving credit to the power of prayer and to Jesus Christ.
David leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Jan Thompson; his daughter, Dixie McQueen (Joseph) and granddaughter, Ivy Skye McQueen of Charleston, SC; his daughter, Ashley Thompson of Southaven, MS; his mother, Norma Thompson of Southaven, MS; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Thompson, and by his sister, Carie Billingsly.
David's services will be Monday, August 12th, 2024. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Memorial Park South followed by a Celebration of Life Service at The Gin at Nesbit at 11:00 A.M.
