Obituary

In Loving Memory of David L. Wicker Sr. ("Big Dave") March 19, 1952 – July 16, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David L. Wicker Sr., affectionately known to family and friends as "Big Dave," who passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 74.

Big Dave was a skilled mechanic by trade who took great pride in his work. He was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether repairing a vehicle or solving a problem, he approached life with determination, a competitive spirit, and quiet strength.

In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and spending time on the golf course. Knowing Dad's competitive spirit, there wasn't an option of coming in second or finishing a golf course over par. Those who knew him will remember his love of sports, his sense of humor, and the friendships he built along the way.

Above all else, Big Dave loved his family. He found his greatest happiness in the time he spent with those he loved. He enjoyed getting together to play card games, cook BBQ which he took great pride in perfecting, and growing his own vegetable garden to concoct the perfect salsa and happily share vegetables with others. His family will forever cherish the memories, lessons, and unconditional love he shared.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Darlene Wicker; his father, Boyce Leon Wicker; his mother, Dorothy Almeda Wicker; his brother, James Lanny Wicker; his sister, Lois Gean Bartlett; and his brother-in-law, Frank Skrocki.

He leaves behind his loving son, David L. Wicker Jr. “Lil Dave” and his wife, Shanda; his cherished grandsons, Jackson and Mason; his daughter, Melissa Hester and her husband, Matt; his sister, Linda Stafford and her husband, Bill; his sister, Carolyn Skrocki; and his longtime companion Anita Elkins along with many other beloved family members and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Dad will be remembered for his generosity and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the countless memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who loved him.

"Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in the stories we tell, the lessons they taught us, and the love they placed in our hearts."
