Obituary

Deborah (Debby) McCain Phillips, 69, was called to her heavenly home on January 6, 2021 after a brief but courageous battle with caner. Debby was born August 7, 1951, in Memphis, TN to Ruby and J. B. McCain. She met her high school sweet heart and love of her life, Sam Phillips, at Frayser High School in 1967. Debbie and Sam were married in 1969 and were the loving parents to five children, Tiffany (Tommy) Couch of Jackson, MS, Lesle (Matthew) Heinz of Memphis, Ashlee Phillips (Will Brewer) of Memphis, Courtney (Stephen) Smith of Frisco, TX and Wes (Lauren) Phillips of Memphis.

Debby lived her life with strength, honesty and a passionate love for family. She could be counted on to be first to come to the aid of any and all family in need. Her home was filled laughter, love, noise and a lot of food. Her grand children were her greatest treasures. She loved to travel – anywhere and always.

Debby was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother John Allen McCain. Left to cherish her memory in addition to her children and beloved husband Sam are her siblings Danny (Janet) McCain and Lee Ann McCain; Jennifer (Brad) Cullison; Jamie Latch; Grandchildren John Thomas and Peyton Couch, Carter and Sam Heinz, Coby and Presley Bennett, Ethan and Aidan Phillips, Addison, Graham and Sadie Smith and Liam and Eden Cullison; loving cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and too many friends to count. We will miss her bold, generous and loving spirit each and every day.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the family will hold a memorial service to celebrate Debby's life at a later date. The family requests that memorials in her honor be made to the Shriner's Hospital for children.
