Dempsey Lee Williams, born May 4, 1922, passed away on March 13, 2013, surrounded by family. He is survived by three children, Linda Plunk (Fred); John C. Williams (Cindy); Marsha Strickland (John); six grandchildren, Paul Plunk, Hunter Williams, Holly Callonas (Mike), Spencer Strickland (Kelli), Sarah Strickland, Dylan Williams and a great-grandchild, Gracelyn Williams. Beverly Hurley Williams as well as other family and friends will cherish his memory. Dempsey is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Eloise McMaster Williams and his youngest son, Mark Williams; his parents, George and Maude Williams; four brothers and two sisters. Dempsey was born and raised in Millport, Lamar County Alabama. After graduating from Millport High School, Dempsey attended the University of North Alabama at Florence. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Mr. Williams retired from National Life and Accident Insurance Company. Dempsey belonged to Gracewood Baptist Church (formerly Graceland Baptist Church) faithfully serving as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Visitation will be 1 p.m., Saturday, prior to services at 2 p.m., both at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown.
