Dessie Ree Mitchell
Dessie Ree Mears Mitchell, 97, passed December 11, 2016 at 2:33 PM at St. Peter (Signature) Nursing Home with Gwenda Porter and Jo Ann Smith at her side. She was born September 5, 1919 in Clarksdale, MS. An only child to the late Boyd and Ida Mears. She was a member of Warner Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Memphis, TN. She leaves four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; half sister, Virginia Howard, two goddaughters, Gwenda Porter and Jo Ann Smith. Family and friends will gather to share memories, 10 am - 12 pm, Friday followed by services at 12 pm. Both at Warner Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, 917 Mississippi Blvd. Rev. Warren H. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in New Park Cemetery, 4536 Horn Lake Rd.
