Obituary

Ashland - Dollie Hillhouse Griffin, 89, was called home to heaven on October 31, 2014. She was born in Paris, MS on July 15, 1925 to William Harrison and Emma Barnes Hillhouse. Mrs. Griffin was raised in Lafayette County and at age 18 moved to Memphis and went to work at Fisher Aircraft during WW II. She later worked at the G.E. Memphis lamp plant for 27 years before retiring and moving to Snow Lake near Ashland, MS. Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Griffin and all six of her siblings, S.T. Hillhouse, Lois Hillhouse, Loyd Hillhouse, Boyd Hillhouse, Lavee Webb and Louise Hodge; her son, Charles Latham; granddaughter, Christian Dyan Hawks and great-grandchildren, Robbie Foulk, Johnny Key and Jesse Thetford. She is survived by daughters, Rita Latham Hawks (Ronald) of San Antonio, TX, Bridgette Rhenee Waters (Ed) of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Andrea Key (Kevin) of Horn Lake, MS; Adrianne Thetford of Memphis, TN, Cari Foulk (Rob) of San Antonio, TX and Lorie Terrell (Clint) of Richmond, TX and great-grandchildren, Mallory, Summer, and Caroline, Thetford, Hannah Key, Ashley Foulk, Hunter and Rainey Terrell and great-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Savannah Tate. Until recently she remained active in her church, Ashland Baptist Church (Azarian Sunday School Class), the Ashland Eastern Star Chapter and Snow Lake community activities and the G.E. retirement club. Mrs. Griffin was a faithful Christian, loving Mother and a strong and very independent woman and her favorite Bible Verse, II Timothy 4:7, 8 describes her life. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing." On Tuesday, November 4 visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. at the Ashland Baptist Church in Ashland, MS. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ashland Baptist Church.
