Donald H. Abernathy, Sr. 77, passed away on Friday, August 28 at his home in Southaven, MS. Mr. Abernathy was a self-employed construction worker. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Pat Abernathy; three children: Regina Rhea (Jim) of Nesbit, MS, Donald Abernathy, Jr. (Mandi) of Southaven, MS and Greg Abernathy (Paige) of Olive Branch, MS; four sisters and two brothers; 9 grandchildren: Jason Rhea (Marlene) of Jonesboro, AR, Morgan Rhea, Mallory Donate (Ernie), Kayle Perry (Matthew), Keegan Abernathy and Katie Abernathy of Southaven, Barrett Smith, Eli Abernathy and Joshua Abernathy of Olive Branch, MS; also 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, August 31 from 12 to 2 p.m. with service immediately following at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill South Funeral Home. Mr. Abernathy''s home will be open for friends and family on Sunday evening and also after the funeral service on Monday.
