Donald Ray Cresswell, Sr. 81 passed away April 29, 2022 at Covington Care Nursing Home. Donald was born December 31, 1940 in Memphis to James and Lucille Cresswell. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church of Memphis. Donald worked as a Lather and Construction worker through the local Union. He then was an independent specialty welder with Morrisons Metalweld for many years. He was best known as a lifelong cowboy at heart. As a young man, he was hard to beat in those competitive Speed and Flags classes. As an aged cowboy,  he was an excellent teacher and mentor. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years Betty Jean Cresswell, a daughter (Peanut) Donna Ray Cresswell, a son David Allen Cresswell, and son in law Doug Crofford.  He leaves to continue his memory: a daughter, Tina Crofford of Covington, and three sons, Don Cresswell Jr. of Memphis, Robert Cresswell of Millington, and Jimmy Cresswell of Memphis. 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren plus 2 on the way, and 4  great-great grandchildren plus one on the way.

Services for Donald will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Forest Hill Funeral Home on Whitten Rd. Visitation for friends and family will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, and interment will take place in Forest Hill East Cemetery.
