Donald Leslie
Hawkins
Oct 3, 1938 — Sep 6, 2020
Donald Hawkins was born in Memphis, TN on October 3, 1938 to Dorothy Looney and Rupert Hawkins. He was raised by Clyde Parris, his step-dad, whom he referred to as his father. Donald died at his home in Senatobia, MS on September 6, 2020 from a battle with cancer. He loved his country and retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard after 37 years in 1994 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was on the restoration of the Memphis Belle. Oh how he loved spending hours working on it. He worked at the Hollywood Casino after he retired from the Guard when it first opened up for 14 years. He always wished he had written a book about the things people would do. He made a lot of friends there and enjoyed working with them.
He was a wonderful husband to Patricia Ivy Hawkins for 32 years. They always loved doing things together, when you saw one you saw the other. He loved to take trips to Branson, MO. On their honeymoon they went on a cruise to the Bahamas and to Disney World. He loved going to Nashville, Niagara Falls, and to Washington, DC. They always had a lot of fun times.
Donald was the best dad to his three daughters, Donna, Leigh, and Christy. He loved them so much and words cannot say how much they adored and loved him. He loved his stepchildren and they loved him. He loved his grandchildren, too. He loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in the Family History Center helping others do research on their families. He was loved by everybody because he was a cool, loving person.
