Donald Patrick Horton, 76, of Southaven, MS expired suddenly after a brief illness on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Baptist Hospital-Desoto.

Don was born in Memphis, TN on January 29, 1942. He was the son of the late Evelyn Skeen Horton and H.C. Horton of Memphis. He attended Memphis City Schools and graduated May 30, 1960. He served our great country in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged August 12, 1962.  He had a lifelong career with the railroad until he retired.

He was united in marriage January 23, 1996 to Mary Smith Horton until her death on May 28, 2002.

Don was an avid outdoorsman in his prime as he loved to fish, hunt and entertain his friends. He will be best remembered for his generosity to others and his love for mankind. For Don never met a stranger and was a friend for life for all that knew him.

He is survived by his loving sister, Brenda Babinec of Naperville, Ill.  and his three nieces and family: Belinda Babinec, Beth Babinec Malkosky and Rebecca Babinec Juliani.

His laugh and loving spirit will be cherished by his caregivers and beloved friends: Evelyn McDuffie, Marty Thaggard, and Pam Beber all of Southaven, MS.  They contributed selfishly to ensure his last years were gratifying, pleasant, and enjoyable.

His honorary pallbearers will be his friends from THE Rack.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 13,2018 at Forest Hill Funeral Home, Midtown. Visitation will begin at 10 am with a Memorial Service at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN.
