Donald N. Lewis, 80 of Memphis, passed away March 15, 2023.

He is survived by by his children, Mark Lewis and Dana Coulter; step children, Kris Thompson and Keri Russell; and three sisters, Debra Camp, Dianne Lester, and Ginger Bullard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Lewis; parents, James Datus and Mary Pauline Lewis; brother, Ralph Lewis; and one sister, Gloria Bonner.

Don graduated high school in 1964 and joined in the United States Army until 1971. During his service he was trained as a sharp shooter and drove tanks. One of his jobs was to drive the General of the division places he needed to go. He specialized in driving the tanks, cargo trucks, and other military vehicles.

After concluding his active service in the Army, Don served in the National Guard before joining the Memphis Police Department in 1971. He was awarded Rookie of the Police Academy when he graduated. During his 33 years of duty he served as a police officer and detective.

Don and Glenda's son, Mark, was a special needs child. He was dedicated to providing for his son's needs and would work 2 to 3 jobs at a time for for Mark's care. He loved his wife, children, and family. He had a close, loving relationship with his mom and would call her everyday.

Don was a loving man who was a provider, protector, and encourager.
