Donna Jean Bridges Sturdivant, 93, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Donna was born July 30, 1929 in Ruleville, MS to the late Flora Jones Bridges and James Estel Bridges. She was preceded in death by her Husband of 63 years, Bobby Everett Sturdivant; her sisters, Joyce Clyde Bridges and Lillie Floyce Bridges Moceri; her brothers, Terrance Estel Bridges, James Earl Bridges, and Ezra Jones Bridges.

Donna leaves four children, Terry Sturdivant (Linda), Barbara Sturdivant Tucker (Keith), Glen Sturdivant, and Charles Sturdivant (Pam); seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Donna spent her childhood growing up in Attalla and Choctaw County, Mississippi and graduated high school from French Champ Academy. In 1950, Donna went to work for the FBI in Washington, DC. Her job was to do background checks on government employees. In August of 1951, Donna married her beloved husband, Bobby, in Columbia, South Carolina while he was stationed at Fort Jackson Army Base.

Donna was a stay home Mom until 1969 and then went to work at St. Joseph's Hospital in Memphis, Tn in the New Born Nursery as a nursing assistant. She later transferred to St. Francis Hospital upon its opening in 1974. Donna loved caring for "her" babies and taught so many moms how to feed, bathe, and swaddle their babies. Donna helped many young nurses as they began their career in the new born nursery.

Donna loved gardening, reading, cooking, crocheting, and playing bunco. She was a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church and was a faithful Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. Donna was always hospitable to her family and friends and loved attending family gatherings. She and Bobby rarely missed sporting events of their grandchildren and were very quick to brag about them as well as their children.
