Donnie Lee Hamric, 68, of Cabot, went home to Jesus on February 25, 2025.  He was born July 25, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Arlie E. Hamric and Earline Joyce Ridings Hamric.  Donnie is survived by his twin sister, Wanda Marie Hamric Morrison.  He is also survived by his wife of forty-three years, Marty Moffitt Hamric and two sons, Jonathan Edward Hamric (Trisha) and Benjamin Tyler Hamric (Jessica).  Leaving behind to cherish his memories are his grandchildren, Kaylin Bostian, Maci Hamric, Micah Hamric and a great-granddaughter, Hadlee Waymack.

Donnie graduated in 1975 from Bethel Baptist High School in Memphis, Tennessee.  He attended the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) from 1975-1981 where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education.  During his time in college, he played offensive tackle for the UCA bears. Many friendships were established that are still strong today.  The celebration of fifty years of football brotherhood was a special time last year for Donnie.

Donnie was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity where a strong bond of brothers was formed that continued through today.  The sweetest memory of college life was the time he met and courted his wife, Marty.  They were married March 21, 1981.

Donnie began his career at Magic Mart in Conway.  He then became a truck driver and drove for several companies from 1984-2002.  His next step was to use his college degree to teach Physical Education to junior high students in the Cabot School District.  Donnie retired from that position in 2018.

His only hobby was mowing grass after school hours and during the summer.  While mowing, he ministered to widows, the military and church members.  He often employed young men as his helpers and instilled life lessons in them during their time mowing.

Donnie has been a member of First Baptist Church Cabot for twenty-eight years.  He became a deacon of the church on October 30, 2011 where he served as deacon secretary for thirteen years.  He also taught Sunday School for over twenty-five years, often calling his students every week to chat and give them encouragement in their walk with Christ.

A celebration of Donnie's life will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025 at First Baptist Church Cabot.  Visitation will be 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Donnie Hamric to First Baptist Church Foundation for the Future, 204 N Third St., Cabot, AR  72023.

Honorary pallbearers will be the brothers of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.

Donnie will be laid to rest at 1P.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in Forest Hill Cemetery , East  in Memphis, Tennessee 38133.
