Doris Dene (Sis) Gray ( March 8, 1938 – March 7, 2023)

Doris Dene (Sis) Gray, 84, of Michigan City, MS passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023. She was born on March 8, 1938 in Ripley, TN to the late Ezra and Eddie Griggs. She was preceded in death by her loving, devoted husband, Jasper T. (Jeff) Gray, her daughter, Beverly Dene Gray, and three brothers, Larry Nun Griggs, Danny Lynn Griggs and James Griggs. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Rice (Larry), Tamela Brimhall (Robert), one grand-daughter, Megan Kennedy (Cody), 3 great grand children, Adalynn, Sawyer and Logan Kennedy, one sister, Sandra Justice (Otis), one brother Elton Griggs (Tonie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was a saved, born again Christian that knew the Lord as her personal savior for many years. Doris and her husband lived the majority of their lives in Memphis, TN but Doris had moved to live near her daughters in the later part of her life. She was extremely devoted to her family and the maintaining of her home for her family. During times of family gatherings – this is when you would see her at her happiest. She made sure that she had prepared whatever each individual sibling preferred, all the way down to boiled custard. She was very well known for being one of the best cook's in the Memphis area and during the holiday's she would bake cakes and pies to give as greatly coveted gifts. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, son in law, grand-daughter, great grand-children, siblings, as well as other family members and friends.

The service will be at Forest Hill Funeral Home East on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Forest Hill Funeral Home – East, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, TN has charge.
