In Loving Memory of Doris Dalton Powell

Dalton Powell, age 92, peacefully passed away on July 8. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Christian who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Born on December 25,1931 in Waxahachie, TX. She married her husband Jerry Powell in 1949. Dalton and Jerry moved to Memphis, TN in 1960 and then to Southaven, MS in 1974 where she resided the rest of her days.

In her younger years, Dalton enjoyed bowling, boating and gardening. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished moments spent with her family. She especially loved her role as NaNa.

In her later years, despite battling dementia, Dalton continued to display remarkable resilience and maintained her grace and dignity.

Dalton was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Powell. She is survived by her three daughters, Tonja Stephenson (Keith) of Memphis, TN, Tolann Porter (Duane) of Oakland, MS and Jay Pyzer (Bryan) of Franklin, TN, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lindsey Vick and Amiesta Cox from Spring Valley for their care and compassion during Dalton's illness. A special 'thank you' to our niece Brittany Johnston for her countless acts of love, kindness and support for taking care of our Nana.  You are so loved Brittany!

A memorial service to celebrate Dalton's life will be held at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church on July 16 at 12:30 pm for visitation and 1:00 pm for service. Followed by graveside service at Forrest Hill South.

May Dalton's soul rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be cherished always.
