Dorothy Powell Cannon, "Dot", 81, of Memphis went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband, Winston Jesse Cannon (1975), and by her son, Winston Powell Cannon (2008). She is survived by her son, Jud Cannon and his wife Jeanne Britt Cannon of Memphis. Dot was a devoted grandmother to her 4 grandchildren: Winston, Philip, Josh and Catie Cannon. Born in Jackson TN, Dot was the middle sister to Fran Nothern (2012) and Beth Nichols of GA. Dot is also survived by her sister-in-law Jane Cannon; nieces, Jeananne Nichols, Jennifer Moore, Sandy Hodson; and nephews, Jim Cannon and Bob Cannon. A graduate of Central High School and Memphis State University, Dot retired from the US Dept of Treasury where she worked for 23 years. Dot was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Memphis. Visitation will be Monday at 9:30 at First Baptist Church (Poplar and Parkway) with a memorial service to follow in the chapel at 10 a.m. Memorials may be sent to the Westminster Academy Athletic Department 2500 Ridgeway Rd Memphis TN 38119 or to the charity of the donor''s choice.
