Dorothy Fay "Dot" Simpson, a resident of Kirby Pines Retirement Community, went home to her Lord on May 2, 2014. Born on August 13, 1923, in Yalobusha County Mississippi, she was the daughter of Minnie Eliza and James Wesley Hayles of Water Valley, Mississippi. She leaves her husband of sixty-nine years, Harry Watson Simpson, son Steve Simpson (Dianna) of Collierville, Tennessee, and daughter Joanie Helms (Rusty) of Arab, Alabama, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She loved the Lord and her church families at Frayser Baptist and Bellevue Baptist Churches, always using her gift of encouragement. She retired from Pennaco and spent her retirement years traveling, in church service, and with family. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining and was most happy at a family gathering where she could be with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She exemplified the description of a virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. Visitation will be held at Bellevue Baptist Church Chapel on Monday, May 5, 2014, from noon until 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Bellevue Baptist Foundation or a charity of the donor''s choice.
