Dorothy Laverne Paine, age 93, was born in Memphis on Oct 12, 1929 and passed away on Jan 31, 2023 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville. She was the youngest of 4 children born to Vernon G. and Elsie Lawrence Perry. She was a 1947 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Memphis and retired as a supervisor after 35 years with Bell South (AT&T). She was a member of Pioneers Club of America. Dorothy made her profession of faith at a young age at Highland Heights Baptist Church and later at Malcolm Ave. Baptist Church which her family helped establish.

Dorothy enjoyed her annual garden and her family and friends enjoyed the benefits of her bounty as she shared fresh vegetables and we looked forward to her tomato pies. She also enjoyed traveling  and often took fun  trips with her nieces. She was a loving aunt who was always there for her family and brightened everyone's day and she will truly be missed.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Roy B. Paine, a sister, Elsie P. Dooley, and 2 brothers, V. L. "Bud" Perry and Richard Perry. To cherish her memory she leaves behind her  nieces, Charlotte Mills, Shirley Dooley and  Beverly Cobb and nephew Bill Dooley and a special great nephew, Kelly Mills.
