Dorothy Jean Taylor, 73, was a 1964 graduate of Manassas High School.  She then decided to continue her education on a post secondary level and attended Tennessee State University.  In 1968, Dorothy earned her Undergraduate Bachelor's Degree, and in 1969 she completed her Master's Degree.  Both major studies were completed in the field of Home Economics.  In 1971, Dorothy started working at Sheffield High School where she began her 35-year teaching career.  She was very active during her teaching career as the girls' track and cross-country coach, cheerleader coach, and basketball scorekeeper for the Junior High School.

Dorothy leaves behind one daughter, LaTonya Wright; one son-in-law, Frederick Wright; one grandson, Cameron Fulton; her mother, Ressie Taylor; three sisters, Nadine McDonald, Vicki Taylor Wright and Ressie Chambers; two brothers, Fraky Taylor and Robert Taylor; one sister-in-law, Dolly Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Chambers and Edward Wright; also a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, at Forest Hill Funeral Home, East.  The graveside service will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, East.
