IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Jean
Van Hook Herron
October 13, 1936 – August 27, 2025
Dorothy Jean Van Hook Herron, 88, of Southaven, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She spent two and a half months suffering, but she will not suffer anymore. She was born on October 13, 1936, in Hughes, AR. She was a strong woman of faith
and a member of First Baptist Church of Horn Lake, MS. Wherever we lived, she found us a Baptist Church.
She was a hard worker. She worked from the time she got up until she went to bed. She worked for Kurfees Paint Company and could match colors better than anyone. She became a cosmetologist. She worked in shops and became an instructor with the Jett Beauty School.
While working, she started working on her family history. She located so many of her relatives around the country.
She was a member of the following organizations: Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Southern Dames of America, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Daughters of the War of 1812.
She loved to dress up and looked pretty all the time. She had a beautiful voice and sang at many events. She supported many military and veteran events including Project Package. In her 54 years of living in DeSoto County, she did so much for the county.
She loved to travel. We traveled to fifteen countries, and we took two foreign cruises.
I am so thankful the Lord let us celebrate our 71st wedding anniversary on August 16, 2025.
I, Stewart "Lynn" Herron, want to thank our Pastor Tim Trillett and Pastor Calvin Miller for their many visits to our home and hospital. I want to thank each of you for your prayers, calls, food, flowers, visits, love and help during my loss of my darling Dorothy Jean. I also want to thank my
niece Vicky Roberts, good friend Randy Haley and my friends Diane and Bill Horne for all their help during these trying times.
