Dorothy Omega Voss Bumpas, of Collierville, passed away peacefully on December 31. She was born in Nankipoo, TN, and was a graduate of Halls High School. A long-time resident of Memphis, she retired from Kimberly Clark Corporation after more than 30 years of service. "Aunt Dot", as she was affectionately known to her many beloved nieces and nephews, was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her home was always filled with loved ones - whether one of the kids taking a week-long "vacation" at her house, or someone stopping by for a Dr. Pepper from the always-stocked icebox. Aunt Dot and her husband, "Uncle Bumpas", enjoyed traveling and often took a niece or nephew along on their trips. She was a long-time member of Rugby Hills Baptist Church, where she kept the nursery for many years, and a current member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Collierville. Dot was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse Bumpas; her parents, Lula and Seph Voss; her siblings, Alton Voss, Hollis Voss, Cradie Tillman, Juba Voss, Murry Voss, Daphene McWilliams, Ambie Voss and Catherine Voss. She is survived by scores of nieces and nephews, including local survivors Ruth McCormick and Melinda, Scot, Nealy and Mallory Woodard, all of Collierville; Morris and Ozzie Eakin of Memphis; Brad, Chrissy, Brooke, Nicholas and Carly Eakin of Bartlett; Joan, Rick, Spencer, Lindy and Makenna Price of Munford, TN; Kim Cochran of Memphis; Tommy, Leslie and Scarlett Akin of Memphis; and Barbara Santana of Southaven, MS. Services will be held on Friday, January 4 at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with visitation 30 minutes preceding the service.
