Douglas Monterey
Stephens
Jul 5, 1927 — Sep 20, 2023
Doulgas Monterey Stephens was a tall, friendly man, who loved children, and children loved him. His wicked top spin kept him on tennis courts until his late 80's. He was a man who understood that everyone carries unseen burdens and accepted them as he found them. He had deep pockets filled with second chances that he offered whenever needed.
Douglas will be missed by all who knew him. In the earliest hours of Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Douglas, who was a sincere Christian, moved to our father's heavenly home.
He was born in 1927, near Helena, Arkansas during the finale of the Rouring Twenties. The seventh child in a family that would eventually include thirteen children, Douglas served in Korea with the US Army, married Dean Lambert, then began a career in tax accounting and a family with nearly three children. He taught them love, honesty, and responsibility, during their childhood and adulthood. At ninety-six years of age, he left them to join his wife, Dean, in God's promise of eternal life. His grandchildren: Seth Stephens and his wife, Rose, Hanna Ross, and Olivia Ross; his great-grandchildren: Scott and Sealey Stephens will continue the endowment of his love and the fruits of his memories.
A memorial service will be held at Bartlett Baptist Church at 3pm, Monday, September 25, 2023.
