Edker "Murphy" Johnston, 86, passed away in Savannah, TN June 11, 2017. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Christine Johnson in 1955 and was married for 60 years until she passed away in May, 2016. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Corzine (Barry) of Olive Hill, TN.; his son, Doug Johnston (Barbara); one grandson, Ronnie Johnston, Raleigh, NC; brothers, Dennis Johnston (Charlotte), Parvin Johnston, and one sister, Penny Gail Thweatt; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heather Corzine; one brother, Dexter Johnston, Jr.; one sister, Joyce Holland; and his parents. Murphy served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Cascade, during the Korean War. He was a retired union brick mason. He loved to hunt and fish and helping at his Church. He was a godly man that loved God with all his heart and loved people. He never met a stranger. Family and friends will gather at 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 to share memories. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park-East in Memphis with burial at Memphis Memory Gardens on Raleigh LaGrange Road.
