Edna Elsie Capps, 88, of Denton, Texas passed away on March 28, 2020. She was born on April 10, 1931, to William and Marie (Muller) McCrarey in Memphis, Tennessee. Edna was married to Rieban Ray Capps and they lived in Memphis, and later in Horn Lake, Mississippi. After retirement Edna moved to Denton, Texas and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Edna proudly completed her high school education at age 48, and also obtained her driver's license at age 50. The roadways of Horn Lake were never the same! Edna finished her working years as a teacher's aide at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Walls, Mississippi and loved the 16 years she spent there with the children and co-workers. She made friends easily and kept them for life. In her retirement years she loved to crochet and made many blankets, quilts, and assorted items for family and friends. She also worked puzzle books and read novels, joining the digital age by resorting to Kindle books for variety and ease of access! She loved visiting with her friends and family and adored her little poodle, Molly, as well as any neighborhood dog she could meet!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rieban, parents William and Marie McCrarey, brothers Bill McCrarey and Lee McCrarey, sister Frances (McCrarey) Garner, and son William Cope. She is survived by a brother, Henry McCrarey, sister-in-law Pat McCrarey, sons, Larry Capps and wife Diana, Douglas Capps and wife Cindy, and Neil Capps and wife Georgia. She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa Capps Tsakonas, Jesse Capps, Lenzey Capps Johnson, and Brian Hulstrom; and great grand-children Morgan Tsakonas, Hannah Tsakonas, Keylee Capps, Daniel Johnson, Bree Hulstrom, Faith Hulstrom, Lief Huslstom, Noah Hulstrom, and Wyatt Hulstrom.

A private burial service will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park – South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later date.
