Dr. Edward Taylor Stanford, 90, passed away on December 7, 2015 in Little Rock, AR. He was born on August 6, 1925 in Linden, TX. He was the 13th of 14 children. He joined the Navy as a baker during WWII and served in the Pacific Fleet. After his honorable discharge he attended Texas A&M where he earned his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine. He first worked as a veterinarian in Nashville, TN, where he met and married his wife, Fern Wilkins Stanford, before moving to Memphis, TN where he opened Stanford Animal Hospital. He retired at the age of 78 after practicing for over 50 years. He was a deacon of Cherokee Baptist Church while in Memphis and a longtime member of Optimist International. After retiring Ed and Fern moved to Little Rock, AR to live with their daughter, Cindy Stanford Berry and family. In Little Rock he and his wife were members of Calvary Baptist Church. He leaves behind a daughter, Cindy Berry, son-in-law, Dan Berry, two grandchildren, Sarah and Wendy Berry, as well as numerous generations of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Wilkins Stanford, and their oldest daughter, Gayle Ann Stanford, and his 13 brothers and sisters. The visitation will be at Forest Hills East in Memphis, TN at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 12 with the funeral service immediately following at 10:00 AM.
