Mrs. Eileen M. Sommer, age 95, of Blairsville , GA, formerly of Memphis , TN, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2021 in Union County Nursing Home. Eileen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years , George S ommer, a daughter, Sheryl Lynn Rooks , and l ittle baby Annie . Also preceding her was her sister Shirley and brother Leroy.

She was born and raised in Altoona, PA, the daughter of Charlie and Marie Logan. Eileen was a devoted Christian and was very active in church. Being the wife of a career Navy man, she was the rock to her husband and children through many family relocations . After her husband retired from the Navy, he became a pastor, and s he enjoyed her role ministering as the Pastor's wife for many years in various towns. After her husband passed, she served as a nanny to a number of children, affectionately called 'Mimi' by them. She also was the primary care-giver of her handicapped grandson, Jason for eighteen years.

She was an avid reader, seamstress, and enjoyed cross-stitching. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy with Alex Trebek every evening.

She is survived by her two sons, George (Chuck) Sommer and his wife Debbie of Blairsville, GA and Stephen Sommer and his wife Terry of Friendsville, TN. She had six grandchildren : Wesley, Angela, and Landon Sommer, and Sarah, Jason, and Rachel Rooks. She also had ten great-grandchildren : Eli, Trinity, Caleb, C aylee Pyrz , and Sophia, Steve, Gabriel, Cameron Sommer, and Rachelle and Jackson Totten.

She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Memphis, TN . In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Red Bird Mission of Beverly, KY.
