Trilby Elaine Gilliland Garner, age 90, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee. She was born in Monroe County, Mississippi on February 20, 1932 to the late R.G "Bob" and Jency Gilliland. She graduated from Hamilton High School as the Valedictorian of her class in 1949. After high school, she relocated to Memphis, Tennessee to begin her career. She worked in sales for Sears and Real Estate. Her longest tenure was working for the Internal Revenue Service where she eventually retired.

She married the love of her life, Woodie Wayne Garner in 1950 and they enjoyed many years until his death in 2008. Woodie served in the US Air Force and this offered the Garner's opportunities to enjoy four years in London, England. One of the highlights of Mrs. Garner time in England was being in the streets of London to witness the parade for Queen Elizabeth during her Coronation. The main highlight of her time in England was the birth of their daughter, Diane.

Mrs. Garner was fondly known to her parents, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews as "Trilby" and to her friends and coworkers as "Elaine". She was a member of Graceview Presbyterian Church. She was always trying to make people smile with her fun sense of humor.

Survivors include her two daughters, Diane Garner Ward (Sam), and Kelly Garner Young (David Lusby); son in law, Louis Steplock; Grandchildren, Barbara Lee Steplock (Andy Blonigen), Lesley Steplock, Becca Steplock Johnston (Greg), Betsi Steplock, Andrew Steplock, Lauren Johnson (Josh), Zachery Young (Amy), Emily Lannom (Alex), Matthew Young and Max Lusby; Great grandchildren, Clayton Wayne Johnston, Garner Johnston, Jax Johnson, Luke Johnson, Noah Young and Mary Katherine Young; Sister; Jane Gilliland Knoop (Harold); Brother, Donald Gilliland; Brother in law, Travis Thompson and a host of nieces and nephews who love "Aunt Trilby" and knew her as the "cool aunt".

She was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Woodie W. Garner, Daughter; Deborah Garner Steplock, Parents; Bob and Jency Gilliland, Sisters; Azilee Gilliland Smith and Shirley Gilliland Thompson; Brothers, Edward Gilliland and Russel Gilliland.

Pallbearers are Zachery Young, Matthew Young, Josh Johnson, Sam Ward, David Lusby, Alex Lannom and Max Lusby.

Graveside services will be officiated by Reverend Chris Neiswonger is scheduled for Monday, February 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Forrest Hill Memorial Park, South: 2545 East Holmes Road, Memphis, Tennessee.
