ELBERT JAMES TURPEN, 82, of Memphis, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. He was a member of Church of Christ, and retired from Gordon''s Transports. He started several successful business ventures that were a source of great pride. Mr Turpen was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Turpen, his parents and all of his siblings. He leaves two daughters, Donna Hightower (Rick) of Arlington, TN and Gale Martz of Cordova, TN; one son, Jimmy Turpen (Lori) of Cordova, TN; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, June 2 from 2-4 p.m. at Forest Hill South Funeral Home. Private graveside service will be 10 a.m., Monday, June 3 in Forest Hill Cemetery.
