Obituary

Eleanor Elizabeth Pevy Black, "Ellie", 84, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on December 3, 2025 surrounded by her family.
A beloved mother, sister, Mimi, aunt and friend, Ellie lived a life marked by faith, courage, and generosity.

Born with an adventurous spirit, Ellie embraced every opportunity to experience life to the fullest. She loved to travel and was ready to go with anyone, any where, any time. She skydived, hang-glided, and never missed a chance to ride a roller coaster—always reminding those around her that joy is meant to be lived boldly.

Ellie retired from Kellogg's in 1996 after  37 years of service, where she worked with dedication and pride, and maybe had a little too much fun. Outside of work, her heart belonged to the Lord, and she devoted her life to serving Him. She was a member of Waypoint Baptist Church. She had a deep passion for helping others, offering kindness, support, and love wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 30 years, Ronald Black, and her beautiful daughter Brenda Black McCaskill, her mother and father, Eleanor and Borden Pevy and brother, Royce Pevy.

She is survived by her daughters, Traci McPeake (Chris) and Tina Miles (Chuck), son-in-law Mike McCaskill, her brothers Bill Goldsby (Edwina) and Charlie Pevy, her sister, Eva Tullos (Frank)as well as her cherished grandchildren, Sara Bibb  (Jack), Randy Chastain, Jewell Chastain, Casey Travis, Joshua Miles and Hannah Furman (Ben) and her great-grandchildren, Luke Adams, Sawyer Travis, Julia Travis and James Parsons and  her "favorite" nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her immense joy. She also leaves many cousins, work friends, church friends and bowling friends. She never met a stranger and she just loved people.

Eleanor's legacy of faith, adventure, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

We find peace in knowing she is now with her Savior and heard the words "Well done,  good and faithful servant."

A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Hill East on Saturday 12/13/2025 at 2pm with visitation starting at 1pm.
