Elinor June DeMoss Smith, 85, of Memphis, passed away December 15, 2015 at Methodist University Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born October 7, 1930, in Chicago, to Lilly Gertrude Farrell and Noble Joseph DeMoss. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Arthur David Smith; one most beloved sister, Janet DeMoss Royer of Memphis; four children: Thyra Regan (Bill) of Memphis, Janet Smith of Huntsville, AL, Melissa Brooks of Springfield, MO and Eric Smith (Ann) of Torrance, CA; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one niece, Gail Royer Gabehart of Campbellsville, KY; and one nephew, Charles Royer of Eads. Mrs. Smith graduated from Treadwell High School in 1948 and had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1958. Her life revolved around her family and her church, and she will be remembered as a selfless person who was a role model for her children. An avid gardener, she also loved reading, travel and the outdoors, and she hiked until her legs would no longer let her. She died in the hospital where she retired in 1994 after 20 years as a secretary in the pathology lab. A viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 19, with funeral services at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran. She will be laid to rest in Memphis Memory Gardens. Services under the direction of:
