Elizabeth Jeanette Butner (Smith), age 80 of Nesbit, MS, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 9th, 2018. She was born to the late Hampton T. Smith and Bertha Mae Smith on July 30th, 1938 in Lauderdale County, TN. Jeanette married Charles Russell Butner on June 3rd, 1956, and moved to Memphis, TN, to begin their life. She retired from Sears where she worked as a retail manager in the Children's department for 25 years. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years, Charles R Butner; her sister, Ruby Jewell Pace and her husband, Warner; her son, Terry L Butner, and daughter, Sharon M Hammons and her husband, Don; grandchildren, Matthew Butner and his wife, Melissa, and Jeremy Butner; and great grandchildren, Carly Campbell and her husband, Josh, Ruby J Butner, and Clark M Butner. Jeanette was preceded in death by her siblings:  James W Smith, Dorothy M Klutts, William Smith, Viola Craig, and Johnny H Smith; and her granddaughter, Jennifer M Miller.

A loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jeanette faithfully supported and encouraged her family. Family was the most important aspect of her life; the kind of love Jeanette felt for her family was one without condition. Though she was physically sick she was mentally and emotionally strong. For Jeanette's wisdom, humor, tenderness, compassion, understanding, patience, and love, we will all miss her dearly and be thankful for the time we spent with her.

Family and friends will be gathering at Forrest Hill Funeral Home East at 2440 Whitten Rd, Memphis, TN 38133 on Wednesday, November 14th for Visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm which is immediately followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm . Interment will follow at Hinds Chapel Church Cemetery at 4866 Fogg Rd, Nesbit, MS, 38651 .
