Elizabeth "Jo" Clanton Dorsey will be celebrating Easter in the presence of the Lord. She died peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Memphis, TN at the age of 83. Her love for her family and her unwavering faith in God defined her life and shaped her legacy for all who knew her.

Jo is survived by her daughters Linda Buckmaster and Karen Thomas; her grandchildren Hannah Buckmaster and Allie Buckmaster, Justin Thomas and Angela Thomas; and her great grandchildren Ellie, Noah, Cayden, and Brylee; and her precious Jack Russell, Little Bit. She is preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Dorsey and her parents, Joseph and Gladys Clanton.

Jo was born on October 15, 1934 to Joseph and Gladys Clanton in Shreveport, LA. She graduated from the University of Memphis in 1959. She married Bill, her high school sweetheart and love of her life. They were happily married for 59 years. She was an educator, business manager, Sunday School teacher, caregiver for her husband, and Welcome Ambassador for Brookdale Dogwood Creek. She was highly involved in her church and community. She had a servant's heart and was truly a missionary of the Lord. She lived her life in service for others. Her greatest legacy was the joy she gave to her friends and family.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Saturday March 31, 2018 at Germantown Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life afterwards at 11:00 am. Rev. John Longworth will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jo's life. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
