Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Zaio Thompson, born October 26, 1946, died October 3, 2013 at Methodist Hospital - Germantown, after a 38 year courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School class of 1964 and went on to work at the Market Basket, C and I Bank, 1st Tennessee Bank, American Greeting Card Company, Disney Fulfillment and Catalog Center and Tri State Vacuum Cleaner Company. Elizabeth attended Cornerstone Church. She was a people lover that never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anybody. The strength of character that she possessed was ever present in her life. Her whole life she conveyed her love of people with composing notes and her dedication to her membership with the Ovarian Cancer Society. She made many walks for the cause with her husband and sisters by her side during her 39 year survivorship. Elizabeth was a "social butterfly". She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, William "Jerry" Thompson of Memphis; two sisters, Virginia Roleson, Marie Burgin and her husband Ted; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, October 6 and service will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 7 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with interment following. In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorials be sent to Memphis Humane Society or to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital.
