Elmer R. Prewett Jr. went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2019. Elmer was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 20, 1941.  He attended Whitehaven High School before joining the U.S. Air Force, where he served for four years.  Elmer was a journeyman sheet metal worker for most of his work life.  He opened the Pro Am Bowling & Trophy Supply, and later went into management with Brunswick Bowling Centers for five years prior to returning to Memphis for his journeyman sheet metal profession. His passion was bowling, and he enjoyed it because it kept him close to his bowling family, friends, bowling tournaments, and leagues.  Elmer enjoyed baseball (he even tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals during his senior year of high school), softball and golf.  He enjoyed a good serving of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, or pretty much any sweet treat. Elmer was a devoted, loving husband, father and brother, who is survived by his wife, Jean Prewett; his late son, Kenny; daughter, Chevelle Melber (Chris) of Spring, TX; sons, Mike Prewett of Bartlett, TN, Frankie Williams of Memphis, TN, and Steven Prewett (Annette) of Greer, SC.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond, Sr. and Floanne Prewett of Memphis and Southaven.  He leaves brothers, Criss (Mary) of Horn Lake, MS, Kenny (the late Merrie) of Arlee Montana, and Phil Prewett of Portland, Oregon; and sisters, Gale Ammons and Winnie Prewett, both of Memphis.  Elmer leaves four grandchildren, five and ½ great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at the Goodman Road Baptist Church, 4368 Goodman Road, Horn Lake, MS 38637, where Elmer and his parents were members for many years.  Date and time of service is Monday, June 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM with graveside services to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, 2545 E. Holmes Road, Memphis, TN, 38118.  Visitor viewing is from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church.
