Buchanan
March 19, 1935 – March 29, 2026
Mrs. Elnora Montez Thomas Buchanan was born March 19, 1935 in Jackson Mississippi to the late Milton Thomas, Sr. and Margaret “Maggie” Walker Mims Thomas.
Elnora confirmed her believe in God during her adolescent years and joined Clark Street Baptist Church in Jackson Mississippi. In Memphis she became a member of Rosewood Baptist Church. She was educated in the Jackson, Mississippi educational system, Lanier High School and Mississippi Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She gave untiringly in her chosen work of caring for others. (hospital patients and her family (members). To encourage “Family Roots” closeness in keeping with what was listed in her father's family ledger, the names of his parents and all of his 15 sisters and brothers, this discovery led Elnora on her family genealogy search for the ancestors of her family and also her husband's family with great success.
She was united in holy matrimony with Willmer Tobe Alex Buchanan on May 27, 1955. Willmer preceded Elnora in death on May 31, 1988. Mrs. Buchanan departed this life on March 29, 2026.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Roy G. Buchanan, a daughter, Bonita M. (Richard) Jones, granddaughters Andisa M.K. Jones and Khalilah K. (Brendan) Monahan of Boston, Massachusetts and Sister-in-law Dorothy L. Julkes of San Antonio, TX. She leaves a host of neices, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memory.
