Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elton Hopkins, 86, of Memphis, TN after a long battle with Alzheimer's Dementia. He was born June 9, 1935 in Ripley, TN and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 3, 2021.

He was Retired from the U.S. Army and saw combat during the Viet Nam war.  Over a span of 22 years, he was stationed at various Field Artillery units in the United States and overseas.  He was an avid sports fan and dearly loved his family and they dearly loved him.

He was predeceased by: his son, Randal Elton Hopkins; his father, Vester Gee Hopkins; his mother Minnie Louise Hopkins; and brother Curtis O'Neal Hopkins.

He was survived by: his wife of 46 years, Karlene Hopkins of the home; daughter Jennifer Harper and son-in-law Kevin Harper of Memphis; two granddaughters, Cali Harper and Lila Harper of Memphis; two sisters Anita Nearn of Memphis and Jacqueline Hopkins of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Glen Hopkins and wife Darlene of Greenfield, TN; and one sister-in-law, Patricia Hopkins of Memphis and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, South: 2545 East Holmes Road, Memphis, TN on  Wednesday, January 13 at 2 pm. There will be Viewing from 1-2 P.m. at the cemetery.
