Emil Lamar Ward
August 29, 1941 – August 28, 2026
Emil Lamar Ward, affectionately known as Lamar, passed away on August 28, 2026, one day before his 85th birthday. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 29, 1941, Lamar lived a life filled with service, hard work, love, family, and treasured memories.
Lamar proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he worked as a truck driver for TCW, where he dedicated many years before retiring. He was a 32nd-degree Mason at the Park Avenue Masonic Lodge #362.
For 42 years, Lamar shared his life with Jenny, and together they created a lifetime of memories. They loved to travel and especially enjoyed their time in Gatlinburg and Gulfport, returning to the places they loved and making memories along the way. Lamar also enjoyed fishing and camping and appreciated the simple pleasures of spending time outdoors.
Family was an important part of Lamar’s life. He was the proud father of six children: Lynn Cannon (Darren), Evelyn Stevens (Jim), Felicia Franks, Lisa Carman (Chuck), Charles Waddell (Lycel), and Michelle Lewis (Jerome). He was preceded in death by his beloved daughters, Evelyn Stevens and Felicia Franks.

He will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to his family and country, his love of adventure, and the countless memories he made with the people he loved. His absence will be deeply felt, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Lamar lived a life of service, love, family, and adventure. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love that will continue through the generations.
To some, he was Daddy.
To others, Papaw.
To some, Mr. Pops.
And to many, simply Ward.
Whatever name you called him, he was loved deeply and will be missed more than words can say.
Semper Fi, Lamar.
Rest easy. You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
