ERNEST DELANE NEYMAN, 85, of Cordova, TN, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. "Ernie" was born in Chattanooga, TN on October 13, 1927. Ernie had an outgoing, gregarious personality and never met a stranger. He was an outstanding baseball player in his youth, lettering both at Southside High School and at Memphis State University, where he was known as "Spider Neyman" for his fielding style. Ernie served in the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas , achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked at Memphis Light, Gas and Water as a Field Engineer for 38 years. This job combined two of his passions, driving the back roads of Shelby County and stopping at garage sales where he enjoyed antique pickin'' on his breaks. Ernie was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Louise Powell Neyman, and his brother Ray. He is survived by his two daughters who miss him terribly , Dr. Sherry Neyman, M.D. and her husband Jim Golab of Austin, TX; and Monica Gigi Morgan and her husband Ben and son Colton, of Cordova, TN. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Forest Hill East, Whitten Road, with graveside services immediately following where guests will be encouraged to share their favorite "Ernie" story.
