Obituary

Esther Faye Pass Arnold of Bartlett, TN passed away Wednesday February 8, 2023 at Methodist North Hospital.

She was born December 3, 1934 in Memphis, TN to Joseph and Margaret Pass. Esther retired from Shelby County Government in 1991 where she was appointed the first female assistant jury commissioner and know as the divine "Queen of Nutbush". She was a member of Christ Church in Bartlett, TN. She graduated Bartlett High School in 1952 were she was proud to be a cheerleader. She married James Robert in 1958 and was married over 50 years before his passing. Once Mitchell and Lisa were born the good times began to roll. There was never a dull moment at the Arnold household and never a year missed traveling to Destin, FL for a family vacation. Esther and James Robert's home was always a warm, welcoming place. You could always guarantee the coffee pot to be brewing, a home cooked feast, and a fresh made lemon bundt cake to be sitting on the counter. Esther retired once she gained her favorite title as "Maw" and enjoyed in her free time babysitting her grandchildren. As the grandchildren got older Esther volunteered numerous hours at Bible for China. Some of her favorite hobbies included picking fresh vegetables in her garden, riding the golf cart on the Magic Trail, cruising around town in her infamous Lincoln town car later to be traded for her favorite car the yellow "bug", getting her hair combed every Friday, and being on the phone countless hours with her family and friends. Esther Faye enjoyed every moment of her retired life with James Robert as they would go on many trips to Mountain View, AR and sit on their cozy back porch watching for deer and other wildlife.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Arnold, her parents, siblings Joseph Pass Jr., Eleanor Burgess, Marion Pass, and Max Pass.

Esther is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mitchell and Elaine Arnold, daughter Lisa Arnold, grandchildren Lily and Luke Arnold, one great granddaughter Olive Bailey, two sisters Ruth Laminack , Peggy Vesey and many nieces and nephews. Our Momma, Maw, and Aunt Esther will be greatly missed by her many family and friends.
