Fairy Elizabeth (Tabor) Ward

Fairy Ward entered paradise September 12, 2019 to be with Jesus at the age of 89. Her earliest memories were of Oxford, MS. When she began school, her family moved to the Delta, and she graduated from Tunica County High School in 1947. She married Charlie Ward July 11, 1953. Fairy Ward was a longtime active member of Berclair Baptist Church and coordinated the Operation Christmas Child program for many years.  She served the church in many capacities and was an inspiration to others. She retired from Memphis Light, Gas and Water in 1990 with 25 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Tabor and Agnes Irene (Singleton) Tabor, her husband Charles Stephen Ward and three brothers, Robert Lee Tabor, Jr, Elmo Earl Tabor and Lowell Price Tabor. Fairy was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer last November. She successfully received and tolerated oral chemotherapy for seven months. She battled the cancer bravely; trusting God for peace and comfort. Her Methodist Home Health and Hospice care teams are to be commended for their skill, compassion, support and love. She died in Germantown, Tennessee.

Fairy Ward is survived by her daughter Fairy Ward Waters (Bradford) of Germantown, TN; two Grandsons, Charles Lowell Shull of Birmingham, AL; Garland Ben Shull IV (Leah) and their twins, Noah David and Wyatt Herman of Memphis; sister-in-law Maxine Tabor; nephews Eugene Tabor and Steve Tabor and nieces Susan Tabor Halliburton, Debbie Ward and Leslie Ward Klein.  Her extended family includes Lance Waters, Nathan Waters, Leslie Waters and Frank Tisano.

She was a "mother" and friend to many. We will miss her smile. Yet, we celebrate her life and how well she served and loved others. Fairy Ward will be buried at the Forest Hill-East cemetery in Memphis, TN. There will be a memorial service Sunday, September 15 ^th , 2:00 p.m. at Berclair Baptist Church, 4584 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN. Instead of flowers contributions to Berclair Baptist Church will be appreciated.
